Abstract:
To provide an image forming apparatus that is excellent in transfer maintainability of an intermediate transfer body.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an intermediate transfer body that has a surface layer containing acrylic resin and fluorine-containing polyether; and intermediate transfer body cleaning means that includes a cleaning blade having a tetrahedral amorphous carbon layer on a surface of a contact part in contact with the intermediate transfer body, and brings the cleaning blade into contact with the intermediate transfer body to remove residual toner. A linear velocity of the intermediate transfer body and a linear velocity of a photoreceptor or a linear velocity of secondary transfer means are controlled according to the requirement (1) or the requirement (2). Requirement (1): 0.3≤|linear velocity of intermediate transfer body-linear velocity of photoreceptor|/linear velocity of intermediate transfer body×100≤1.5. Requirement (2): 0.3≤|linear velocity of intermediate transfer body-linear velocity of secondary transfer means|/linear velocity of intermediate transfer body×100≤1.5.SELECTED DRAWING: None
