To provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge capable of forming high-quality images for a long period of time by using a cleaning blade having both of high durability and excellent cleaning property, and to provide a method for manufacturing an image forming apparatus.
The image forming apparatus includes cleaning means cleaning a residual toner image after transferred, by using a cleaning blade. The surface of the blade in contact with the photoreceptor is impregnated with an acrylate polymer through the surface of the blade. A piece of the blade impregnated with the acrylate polymer is observed by a microscope IR method to obtain a ratio A/B of a peak area value (A) at 1700 cm-1 to a peak area value (B) at 1597 cm-1; and a blade not coated with an acrylate is also observed to obtain a ratio A0/B0 of a peak area value A0 at 1700 cm-1 to a peak area value B0 at 1597 cm-1. The distance between a position of the cleaning blade where the ratio [(A/B)/(A0/B0)] is 1.1, and the contact surface of the blade is 5 μm to 100 μm.
