To make it possible to promptly start an image forming process of print data interrupted during calibration for density correction by an image forming unit, after the completion of the calibration.
In an image forming apparatus, a command of received print data is analyzed (S100) and intermediate data is generated (S101). When a command of one page is analyzed (S102), status information of a print engine is acquired (S103). When calibration is performed by the print engine (S104), the intermediate data thus generated is stored in an HDD (S104). When the calibration is not performed, a bit map data generating process is performed (S107). The intermediate data is read from the HDD and converted into bit map data and the bit map data is corrected using correction data for the calibration. Then, the image forming unit performs a printing process corresponding to the bit map data thus corrected.
