The image forming apparatus includes: an endless image carrier on which an image is formed; a rotating driving means for rotationally driving the endless image carrier; a conveying means for conveying a recording sheet; a transfer means for transferring the image formed on the surface of the endless image carrier driven by the rotational driving means to the recording sheet conveyed by the conveying means; a delay notification means to determine whether the recording sheet conveyance by the conveying means is delayed when an image leading end distance as a distance between the leading end position of the image formed on the endless image carrier and the transfer means becomes equal to a re-drive distance as a rotating distance of the endless image carrier in the case of re-driving the endless image carrier after stopping the endless image carrier.
