To provide an image forming apparatus and a toner supply apparatus which performs excellent image forming operation by conveying toner more favorably by traveling wave electric field.
The toner supply apparatus (6) includes a toner conveyance member (62), toner supply sources (61b and 65), discharging agent supply sources (61c and 66), and a conveyance state detection part (69). The toner conveyance member includes a plurality of conveyance electrodes arranged along a toner conveyance path (TTP), and an insulating covering layer covering the plurality of conveyance electrodes. The toner supply source supplies the toner to the toner conveyance path. The discharging agent supply source is provided independently of the toner supply source, and supplies a discharging agent (N) for discharging the surface of the covering layer to the toner conveyance path. The conveyance state detection part produces output corresponding to the abundance ratio of the toner conveyed in the toner conveyance path to the discharging agent. The toner supply source and the discharging agent supply source are driven in accordance with the output from the conveyance state detection part.
