To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming an image with a part having magnetic information recorded unrecognizably at a glance so as to prevent the magnetic information from being stolen on the surface of a member to finally be transferred at a low cost without ruining the image of the surface of the member to finally be transferred.
In an image forming apparatus using a heat sensitive transfer recording medium 18 provided with a coloring layer on a supporting member for forming a heat sensitive transfer image on an intermediate transfer medium 22 on an intermediate transfer medium holding part 26a, and further thermally transferring the image from the intermediate transfer medium to a member to finally be transferred 10, a heat sensitive transfer recording layer with a magnetic material dispersed therein is provided on the supporting member of the heat sensitive transfer recording medium 18. The magnetic material is transferred from the heat sensitive transfer recording medium 18 to the intermediate transfer medium 22 by a predetermined pattern at the time of forming a heat sensitive transfer image on the intermediate transfer medium 22 held on the intermediate transfer medium holding part 26a. The magnetic material transferred on the intermediate transfer medium 22 is further transferred from the intermediate transfer medium 22 to the member to finally be transferred by the predetermined pattern.
