To provide an image forming apparatus which hardly causes color slippage and also hardly causes malfunction such as transferred defect (void) and defective cleaning.
The image forming apparatus is provided with: an image carrier of retaining toner; an intermediate transfer belt which is wound and stretched around a plurality of rollers, is endlessly traveled in the direction vertical to the width direction by rotation of the rollers and allows the outer peripheral surface to contact with the image carrier; the transfer roller which is one of a plurality of the rollers, is brought into contact with the intermediate transfer belt from the inner peripheral surface on the opposite side to the outer peripheral surface, is subjected to the application of a voltage and transfers the toner to the intermediate transfer belt by means of an electro-static force; and a regulation member which is arranged in proximity to both end sides or one end side of the axial direction of at least one roller among a plurality of the rollers, is brought into contact with the side surface of the intermediate transfer belt and, thereby, regulates the movement to the width direction of the intermediate transfer belt. Therein, the volume resistivity of the intermediate transfer belt is ≥1×109 Ωcm and ≤1×1010 Ωcm, and the hardness of the transfer roller is ≥28 [Asker C] and ≤70 [Asker C].
