Abstract:

To efficiently set a read mode when an original is read.

Two kinds of the reading modes as a platen mode and an ADF mode can be set to the image forming apparatus 10. When the ADF mode is set as a default mode, the platen read mode is set for a period from a timing when an ADF 20 is opened until the ADF 20 is closed in a state that an original is removed from a platen glass 32 and the read mode is maintained even at the reception of a reset instruction. Further, when the platen mode is set as the default mode, the ADF read mode is set for a period from the timing when the original is set to the ADF 20 until the timing when the original is removed from the original and the read mode is maintained even at the reception of the reset instruction.
