To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing a defective image due to toner scattering, and capable of forming an image of high image quality at high speed.

The image forming apparatus includes: an image carrier for forming a toner image based on image information; a transfer belt that comes in contact with the image carrier; a cleaning means for cleaning the toner stuck onto the surface of the transfer belt; and a transfer belt cleaning chamber where the cleaning means is provided. An air flow path forming means having an air discharge port for discharging the air is provided inside the transfer belt cleaning chamber.
