To provide an image forming apparatus for surely inhibiting a deteriorated density image and attached carriers due to an adjustment in imaging conditions for a color image even if an image formation ratio of a monochrome image to the color image is high and a print volume is low.

If the imaging conditions for forming the color image are adjusted by an imaging condition adjusting means, a toner concentration in a development section is adjusted by a toner density adjusting means (step S5) when a development capability detected by a detection means is not within a predetermined range (step S4).
