Abstract:

To provide an image forming apparatus that can form a desired image, even when an image of small dots is formed.

The image forming apparatus is equipped with a small dot decision means 70 that detects the number of pixels of an exposure object, in a region having the width of a predetermined number of pixels in both the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction centering an arbitrary pixel of pixels of the exposure object and that decides that the arbitrary pixels are small dots, when the number of detected pixels of the exposure object is equal to or less than the predetermined number; and a bias light modulating means that increases bias light for a predetermined time, prior to and after exposing the pixel decided to be small dots by the small dot decision means 70.
