The image forming apparatus includes a lubricant pressing roller, which is disposed in the downstream side of a lubricant applying means with respect to the moving direction of a first image carrier or a second image carrier and which is a cylindrical roller pressing a lubricant to the first image carrier or the second image carrier. The lubricant pressing roller is disposed outside the first image carrier or the second carrier comprising an endless belt and also functions as a tension roller adding a predetermined tension to the first image carrier or the second image carrier to inwardly bend.
