To provide a memory control method for preventing write to a non-volatile memory when a program runs away, and properly protecting content of a memory, in an address decoder, and to provide a memory control device and a memory control method of a printer.

The memory control method is executed in a device which has a plurality of address areas to be allocated to a plurality of storage devices including a deta-rewritable non-volatile memory, and has: a CPU for controlling the operation of a storage device based on control information; and an access control means for specifying the storage device to be accessed based on the control information from the CPU and for enabling the operation of the storage device. The address space of the CPU has a protection area for protecting a program stored in the non-volatile memory. In this memory control method, when the CPU specifies the protection area based on the control information, the access control means prohibits the control of the program stored in the non-volatile memory.
