To provide an image forming apparatus that can decrease color shift.

The image forming apparatus includes: a first photoreceptor 1Y; a second photoreceptor 1M; a first photoreceptor gear 18Y provided coaxially with the first photoreceptor 1Y; a second photoreceptor gear 18M provided coaxially with the second photoreceptor 1M; a driving source M1 of the first photoreceptor and second photoreceptor; and a branch gear I1, meshing with the first photoreceptor gear at a first mesh point K1a, meshing with the second photoreceptor gear at a second mesh point K1b, and transmitting a driving force from the driving source to the first photoreceptor gear and second photoreceptor gear. In the image forming apparatus, the first photoreceptor and second photoreceptor are exposed to light at respective exposure positions to form latent images, and then toner images, in which toner is attached, are transferred onto a transfer material at respective transfer positions. A sum of a time of movement of a portion of the branch gear located at the first mesh point to the second mesh point by rotation of the branch gear and a time of rotation of an integral number of times of the branch gear is equal to a time of movement of the transfer material from the transfer position of the first photoreceptor to the transfer position of the second photoreceptor.
