To provide an image forming apparatus capable of shortening a time required to resume a developing operation.
The image forming apparatus includes: a developing device 34 having a photoreceptor drum 31, a developing container 341 storing toner supplied from a toner cartridge 37, and a stirring member 342 for stirring toner stored in the developing container 341; and a control section configured to control the developing device 34 such that a time required to resume a developing operation is changed according to an amount of toner stored in the toner cartridge 37 when the toner cartridge 37 and developing container 341 are empty as a result of use of toner in the toner cartridge 37 and developing container 341, a developing operation for developing an electrostatic latent image, formed on the photoreceptor 31, by the developing device 34 is stopped, and the toner cartridge 37 is replaced such that toner is supplied to the toner cartridge 37 from the developing container 341.
