When nozzle check pattern printing with reuse of printed paper is instructed (S100, S110), the number of nozzle check patterns printed on the paper (printed pattern number N), a paper size X, and a paper type Y are input (S140, S150). An allowable frequency K is set based on the paper type Y as well as setting of a maximum frame number S based on the paper size X (S160, S170). When the printed pattern number N is the maximum frame number S or more or the allowable frequency K or more, the reuse of paper is prohibited (S120, S130), and when the printed pattern number N is less than the maximum frame number S and also less than the allowable frequency K (S180), a print frame is set to a number frame of the value of the printed pattern number N plus 1 to perform the nozzle check pattern printing.
