Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to prevent scratches due to rubbing between an intermediate transfer belt and a photoreceptor drum, and to prevent wear of the intermediate transfer belt and the photoreceptor drum.SOLUTION: An image forming device body 100M includes: releasing means 73 which acts in a tension roller 7 as an intermediate transfer unit 50 moves when inserted in the image forming device body 100M, to relax tension of an intermediate transfer belt 5; and rotation means 82 which acts on a drive roller 8 as the intermediate transfer unit 50 moves and rotates the drive roller 8 so as to relax the intermediate transfer belt 5 on the side of an image carrier 1. When the intermediate transfer unit 50 is located in an image forming position, an action applied by the releasing means 73 to the tension roller 7 and an action applied by the rotation means 82 to the drive roller 8 are released.
