Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of efficiently decreasing the temperature of a process part.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a process cartridge 5 (process part) including a toner storage part, a fixing device 8 including a halogen lamp 83 and arranged at the approximately same height as the process cartridge 5, a housing 2 storing the process cartridge 5 and the fixing device 8, a duct 6 arranged between the process cartridge 5 and the fixing device 8 and extending in the width direction of a paper sheet, a fan 7 discharging air in the duct 6 to the outside of the housing 2, and a control part capable of executing a cooling mode for decreasing the temperature of the process cartridge 5. The duct can be switched between a first state and a second state where the inflow of the air from the side of the process cartridge 5 is easier than the first state by the movement of at least a part of the duct 6. The control part decreases the output of a heating element and brings the duct 6 into the second state, in the cooling mode.
