Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus to which firmware designed for a shipped product model can be applied, without requiring physical conversion of a storage medium attached to the apparatus for changing firmware or external rewriting of firmware.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus including: data holding means for holding a plurality of pieces of firmware that can operate the same processing part; change request acquisition means for acquiring a request for changing firmware to be applied to the processing part; and control means for determining whether or not the request for change via the change request acquisition means can be received, and when permitted the reception of the request for change, changing the firmware to be applied.
