PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to allow an operator to reliably and easily recover a sheet conveyance function.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes a first conveyance unit 11, a second conveyance unit 12, and a third conveyance unit 13, which are arranged adjacent to each other to form a conveyance path for a sheet P. The second conveyance unit 12 can be drawn freely. The image forming apparatus includes: a determination unit for determining whether a conveyance function for the sheet P has been stopped or not; an arithmetic unit which determines the amount La of the sheet P located in the first conveyance unit 11 and the amount Lb of the sheet P located in the third conveyance unit 13, based on the second conveyance unit 12, when the determination unit determines that the conveyance function for the sheet P has been stopped; and a mechanism control unit which moves a part of the sheet P into the second conveyance unit 12, in accordance with the amounts La, Lb of the sheet P calculated in the arithmetic unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
