Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quality of an image when applying an AC transfer bias to transfer a toner image to a recording material.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus that comprises: a nip forming member 30 that is in contact with a surface of an image carrier 21 to form a transfer nip N; and transfer bias application means 81 that applies, to the transfer nip, an AC transfer bias as a transfer bias for transferring a toner image on the image carrier to a recording material sandwiched in the transfer nip, the image forming apparatus including adjustment means 87 that adjusts the value of electric resistance on a route of a transfer current flowing in the transfer nip; and control means, such as a control part 60 that controls the adjustment means to adjust the value of electric resistance when the AC transfer bias is applied to the transfer nip according to a predetermined selection condition.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
