Abstract:
To obtain an image forming apparatus that prevents wrong detection of closing of a cover after paper jam is resolved.SOLUTION: A motor drive circuit 12 drives a motor 11 that rotates a roller for causing a print sheet to travel. A cover opening/closing detection circuit 15 detects opening/closing of a cover that is opened/closed when a print sheet is removed, which is stopped in contact with the roller at the occurrence of paper jam. An interlock switch 14 connects a power supply 13 to the motor drive circuit 12 and interrupts the connection of the power supply with the motor drive circuit in response to the opening/closing of the cover; when the power supply voltage level of the motor drive circuit 12 exceeds a predetermined threshold, the cover opening/closing detection circuit 15 outputs a detection signal indicating closing of the cover; when the detection signal indicating closing of the cover is output from the cover opening/closing detection circuit 15 continuously for a predetermined period, a controller 16 detects closing of the cover; the above-mentioned predetermined period is set on the basis of the size in a sub scanning direction of the print sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
