Abstract:
To quickly switch the state of nozzles to a state in which evaporation of ink components is prevented in units of a nozzle.SOLUTION: A line head of an image forming apparatus includes: a common ink chamber; a plurality of nozzles; an individual ink flow passage; an ink supply passage; a first piezoelectric actuator; and a second piezoelectric actuator. An end of the individual ink flow passage is connected to the nozzles. The ink supply passage is connected to the individual ink flow passage and the common ink chamber. When the nozzles are made into a dryness prevention state, a control section deforms the first piezoelectric actuator in a direction in which the volume of the individual ink flow passage is increased and draws the interface of ink to the inside of the nozzles. The control section deforms the second piezoelectric actuator and closes the ink supply passage.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
