Abstract:
To prevent sheet conveyance detecting means from making erroneous detection of sheet conveyance.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises: first sheet detecting means 124 that detects a sheet conveyed by sheet conveying means 210; image forming means 220 that forms an image on the sheet based on a print job to be input; second sheet conveyance detecting means 151 that detects the sheet on the downstream of the first sheet detecting means; and control means 201 that detects the length of the sheet based on a result of detection of a leading end and a rear end of the sheet made by the first sheet detecting means, and controls the sheet conveying means to change the conveyance speed of the sheet. When the difference between the length of a first sheet detected by the first sheet detecting means and the length of a sheet designated in the print job is equal to or less than a first predetermined value, the control means continues the conveyance of the first sheet and a second sheet, and when the difference is larger than the first predetermined value and smaller than a second predetermined value, continues the conveyance of the first sheet so that the second sheet detecting means can detect the rear end of the first sheet and temporarily stops the conveyance of the second sheet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
