Abstract:
To allow accurate detection of the temperature of a fixing device and a reduction in the size of an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus has: an image forming unit; a fixing device; a non-contact type temperature detection unit that detects the temperature of a predetermined part to be detected in the fixing device; a grip part; a fan Fn that sends air to the grip part; and an opposite plate that is made opposite to a part of a blowing area of the fan Fn when the fixing device is mounted in a housing. In the attachment and detachment direction of the fixing device, a first surface Sr1 is set which extends from the opposite plate toward a direction of the part to be detected. A second surface Sr2 is set which extends from the fan Fn toward a direction of the temperature detection unit in the attachment and detachment direction. The temperature detection unit is disposed opposite to the fixing device. The air generated by the fan Fn is passed through the gap between the first and second surfaces Sr1 and Sr2 via the opposite plate. The image forming apparatus can prevent heat of the fixing device from being transmitted to the temperature detection unit through the air.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
