PURPOSE: To remove residual ink produced when an ink image is superposed on the toner image on a recording material.
CONSTITUTION: A first image forming means I of an electrophotographic type is arranged on the upstream side of an apparatus main body M and a second image forming means II of an ink jet type is arranged on the downstream side thereof. A white and black toner image is formed on a recording material P by the image forming means I and a color ink image is formed thereon by the image forming means II. When the ink image is superposed on the toner image, ink is repelled to remain on the recording material as residual ink. This ink is wipen off by a wiping means 30 constituted of an ink removing roller 31 of which the surface is composed of sponge and the pressure roller 32 brought into contact with the roller 31 from below under pressure. When the roller 31 is rotationally driven in the direction shown by an arrow R31 and the recording material P is passed through a wiping nip part, the sponge of the roller comes into contact with the residual ink on the surface of the recording material P to collect and remove the residual ink by the cells of sponge.
