To obtain an image forming apparatus which effectively performs actions for keeping the quality of an image.
Data transmitted from an external instrument such as a personal computer 2 are received and existence of requirement on output of an image is discriminated from the received data by means of a controller 10 and the image data are outputted by means of a printer 16 based on the discriminated requirement. In order to keep the quality of this image, a specified control process constituted of at least two respectively independent processes are performed by means of a controller 16. When it becomes possible to start an action for forming the image based on the received data before actions for keeping the quality of the image are all completed, or even when a command for the action for forming the image is forcibly given, while adjustment/ controlling on condition for the image forming process are performed, the actions for forming the image can be started without waiting for completion of the work. Therefore, an image with stable quality can be always obtd. without waiting time.
