Abstract:
To provide a technology to change the setting of the basis weight of an image forming apparatus after shipment based on a user's purpose.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 comprises: a storage unit 130 that stores a plurality of pieces of basis weight threshold information; a setting acquisition unit that receives a change of region settings; a basis weight acquisition unit 125 that measures the basis weight of a sheet; and a control unit 130. Each of the plurality of pieces of basis weight threshold information is associated with each of a plurality of regions, and the control unit 130 selects, from the plurality of pieces of basis weight threshold information, basis weight threshold information to be used based on the change of region settings, and determines the type of the sheet based on the basis weight of the sheet measured by the basis weight acquisition unit 125 and the selected basis weight threshold information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
