Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make correctly graspable the number of used sheets in the case of image formation re-using a transfer sheet of which one side has been used, by providing a sensor for detecting the presence or absence of an image on a side of the transfer paper which is opposite to a side on which an image is formed by an image forming part.
SOLUTION: A sensor 17 for detecting the presence or absence of an image on a side of a transfer sheet which is opposite to a side on which an image is formed by an image forming part 3 is provided on the upstream side in a transfer sheet carrying direction from a fixing unit 15 provided on the downstream side in the transfer sheet carrying direction from a photoreceptor 5. In the case of re-use of a transfer sheet P' used on its one side, the transfer sheet P' is set on a tray 8 or 9 with the side having an image forming thereon facing down. Upon the start of an image forming operation, the transfer sheet P' is fed by a sheet feed roller 20 and an image is formed on the side having no images formed thereon. Right before the transfer sheet P' is carried to a fixing unit 15, the presence or absence of the image on the specified side is detected by a sensor 17, and in the case the image is present, one passed transfer sheet P' used on its one side is counted.
