Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can suppress a belt from accidentally contacting a contact member that has been separated from the belt, while suppressing an increase in size, complication, and reduction in productivity of the apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus is provided with a first auxiliary roller 11 that can be displaced to the upstream side of primary transfer rollers for color printing 5Y, 5M, and 5C in a direction of rotation of an intermediate transfer belt 7. The position of the first auxiliary roller 11 during a monochrome mode is made lower than that during a full-color mode and higher than the positions of the primary transfer rollers for color printing 5Y, 5M, and 5C.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
