Abstract:
To improve jam processing performance.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a fixing unit that fixes an image formed on a recording material to the recording material; a detection unit that detects the recording material on a path through which the recording material is conveyed; and a control unit that detects if jam occurs in the conveyance of the recording material based on a signal from the detection unit and controls the operation. When detecting that jam occurs in the conveyance of the recording material, the control unit conveys a subsequent recording material present in the fixing unit to a position at which the subsequent recording material is in contact with or overlaps a preceding recording material preceding immediately before the subsequent recording material in the direction of conveyance of the recording material, and then stops the subsequent recording material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
