Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an image forming device which is to charge an image bearer by contacting a magnetic brush with the image bearer, preventing the poor performance of electrostatic charge caused by the scattering of a magnetic carrier of this magnetic brush.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic carrier 101 is supported on the surface of a magnet roller 102 to form a magnetic brush 100, and a voltage is impressed on the magnet roller 102 so that the surface of an image bearer 104 is charged electrostatically. An electroconductive layer 103 having a middle resistance is furnished in a non-image formation region at each of the ends of this image bearer 104. The electroconductive layers 103 are contacted with the magnet roller 102 and held at the same potential as the roller 102. This enables lessening of the potential difference between the image formation region in the central part of the image bearer 104 and the non-image formation regions in the two end parts, and the magnetic carrier 101 of the magnetic brush 100 is precluded from scattering with an electric from the image bearer central part to the end parts.
