PURPOSE: To facilitate forming of a reproduced image of high quality by a method wherein the operating condition of an image forming means is controlled according to a selected gradation reproducing system.
CONSTITUTION: Transfer output to a humidity about a photosensitive drum material, and a specific table used when an output which is separated and of which electricity is removed is set are stored in a data ROM 202 connected to a printer control part 201. The printer control part 201 determines transfer output and the output which is separated and of which electricity is removed based on the table, a gradation reproducing system to be used, and humidity of a periphery part of a photosensitive material drum, and sets output values of transfter charges 25, 26 via an I/O 220. When the set gradation control system is of an intensity modulating system, ordinary control is carried out. When a pulse width modulating system is set, a value a specific amount less than an ordinary transfer output is set. Further, when a dither method is set, a value a specific amount further less than that is set. Thereby, a reproduced image of high quality can be formed.
