PURPOSE: To improve image-formation throughput without making the constitution of hardware complex by altering, in the case of consecutive image- formation in which transfer sheets are ejected in different conditions, the timing of the start of the subsequent image-formation according to a selected sheet-feed part, ejecting condition and transfer sheet size.
CONSTITUTION: The transfer sheet is drawn out of a selected sheet-feed cassette 11a or 11b or tray 31 in a both-side device 3 for the feed of a large number of sheets, by means of a sheet feed roller 12a or 12b or 32, respectively, then, the front end of the sheet is detected by a regist sensor 19, the sheet is carried to a photoreceptor drum 7 on the side where its surface faces a transfer charger 10, the timing of the carry being achieved by a regist roller 13, and a visible image is transferred. The transfer sheet with a recorded image on it is separated from the photoreceptor drum 7, enters a fixing unit 14 to fix the image by receiving heat from a heater, and then is ejected as it is onto an external upper sheet-ejection tray 18a or lower sheet-ejection tray 18 by changeover to a switch 15 or 16 or it is carried to the both-side device 3.
