Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user of having forgotten to take paper so as to improve usability by identifying an external equipment terminal connected to a device, detecting the state change of the external equipment terminal, and informing the external equipment terminal of the detected result upon detecting paper left in a discharge bin identified when necessary.
SOLUTION: A plurality of personal computers PC1, PC2 which are external equipment terminals, are connected to a network printer 3 to be an image forming device. A CPU 51 of the printer 3 controls driving of a printer part 56 through another CPU 57 on the basis of signals received from the respective personal computers PC1, PC2 and controls to switch a paper discharge bin to be used. The CPU 51 is provided with a function of identifying each termianl on the basis of an input signal, a function of detecting the state change of power on/off and entry/release to a sleep mode in each terminal, and a function of informing each terminal to the effect that paper is left in the discharge bin when detected.
