To carry out image formation and mail transmission and reception smoothly by processing confirmation mail such as confirmation-of-receipt mail and error notification mail after transmission economically with no defect.
The image formation apparatus comprises a read-out 2 for reading images, a printer 5 for printing the images, and a control unit 1 having a mail transmitting and receiving function. The control unit 1 has a determination function for analyzing received mail and then determining whether the received mail should be printed or transferred to a designated address according to the analysis result. The control unit 1 performs user authentication and creates a job log wherein job information is recorded including executed jobs attached with the user authentication information, and adds the job information to the mail to be sent. Moreover, the control unit 1 detects the job information from the received mail, fetches the user authentication information from the job log based on the detected job information, and then transfers the received mail to the address of the user corresponding to this authentication information.
