To provide an image forming apparatus that can notify a user of the attachment of a non-genuine product even when a replacement unit is used.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 has a part or all of an image forming section 5 configured to be replaceable as a replacement unit, and comprises: a unit determination section 11 that determines if the replacement unit is a genuine product or a non-genuine product; a storage section 6 that stores the use history of the non-genuine product determined by the unit determination section 11 as a non-genuine product use history 62; and a non-genuine notification section 12 that notifies a user of a non-genuine guide for notifying the use of the non-genuine product during selection of functions using the replacement unit on the basis of the non-genuine product use history 62 stored in the storage section 6.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
