PURPOSE: To reduce the drive force and increase the sorting capability by accommodating sheets selectively in a plurality of compartments by the use of a swinging guide means, and by moving a tray in the direction perpendicular to exhaustion of the sheets.

CONSTITUTION: Copied sheets to be exhausted from an exhaust roller couple 32 are transported by a feed roller couple 121 via an exhaust guide plate 116 swinging round a shaft 115 and a guide plate 117 fitted thereto with possibility of expansion and contraction with the aid of a drive unit 120, which is elevated and sunk by an elevator motor, and are accommodated selectively in bins 111. In case the desired number of copies is greater than the number of bins 111, the drive unit 120 exhausts sheets into the lowermost bin 111 and the tray is moved a certain distance in the direction perpendicular to exhaustion of the sheets, and simultaneously the drive unit 120 is elevated to the uppermost bin 111, followed by accommodation of the sheets in compartment in the same manner as above. Thus accommodation in compartments can be made with a minor drive force, and the sorting capability can be doubled.
