PURPOSE: To replace an waste toner container and a photosensitive body at different time and to reduce the running cost by permitting the waste toner container and the photosensitive body to be separately removed and separately providing detecting means which detect the replacing time of the waste toner container and the photosensitive body.
CONSTITUTION: A toner image carrier 4 and the waste tone container 15 are permitted to be separately removed from an image forming device and the carrier life detecting means 46, which detects the life of the drum-shaped photosensitive body 4 as the toner image carrier, and the toner quantity detecting means 23, which detects that new toner reaches the prescribed quantity, are provided. Then, based on the detected information, the photosensitive body 4 or the waste toner container 15 is removed from the image forming device and is replaced with a new one. Thus, the waste toner container 15 and the photosensitive body 4 are replaced at different time and the running cost of the device is reduced.
