PURPOSE: To accurately eliminate dirt even though the surface of a pressure roller is extremely dirty by making the surface temperature of a fixing roller higher than the fixing temperature and making the dirt on the surface of the pressure roller adhere to a painted out image for cleaning.
CONSTITUTION: The surface temperature of the fixing roller 1 is made higher than the fixing temperature so that developer adhering to the surface of the pressure roller 2 is melted enough. On the other hand, a ROM to store the image for cleaning is provided on an electric substrate 24, and when a test print switch 23 is pressed, the image of a certain pattern is formed on a recording material by an output signal from the ROM. And the storing material is turned over and a paper is supplied again, the melted developer leaves from the pressure roller surface, and adheres to the image for cleaning.
