Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive image forming material responding to a heat mode useful for a lithographic printing master plate which is excellent in the solubility discrimination, improved in the development latitude and scratch resistance and capable of forming an image having excellent contrast and to provide a new ammonium compound to be used for the above material.
SOLUTION: The image forming material has an image forming layer containing (A) a water-insoluble and alkali-soluble resin, (B) a photothermal converting agent and (C) a compound expressed by general formula (1). In the formula, each of R1 to R3 independently represents an organic group, R1 represents a residue forming a cyclic structure containing an N1 atom, R2 and R3 may be coupled to form a cyclic structure or at least either R2 or R3 may be coupled with R1 to form a cyclic structure X- represents a conjugate group of an organic acid and an inorganic acid and the cyclic structure containing the N1 atom is preferably a piperidine ring structure.
