Abstract:

To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus in which the occurrence of a defective image such as middle-missing and character-scattering is prevented by improving the transfer performance of toner in an image forming system using an intermediate transfer body.

In the image forming method including a transfer process of transferring a toner image to a recording material or the intermediate transfer body after developing a latent image formed on an electrophotographic photoreceptor as the toner image by a developing means, the toner image is formed with the toner having the coefficient of shape variation of a toner particle of ≤16% by the developing means while applying surface energy reducing agent having a moisture content of ≤5.0 mass% on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor, thereafter, the toner image is transferred to the recording material or the intermediate transfer body.
