To provide an image forming method for preventing air from remaining on and around a clear toner layer, when a glossy surface is formed, to prevent a minute bubble puddle from being generated in the glossy surface.
The image forming method includes a process for forming the clear toner layer on a photoreceptor, a process for transferring the clear toner layer formed on the photoreceptor onto transfer means, a process for transferring the clear toner layer transferred on the transfer means to an image support, a process for heating the image support on which the clear toner layer is transferred, a process for bringing the surface on the side where the clear toner layer is transferred of the image support into contact with a belt and cooling the image support on which the clear toner layer is transferred in such a state that the surface is in close contact with the belt, and a process for peeling the image support on which the clear toner layer is transferred from the belt. The clear toner layer comprises a plurality of independent linear projecting parts, and the plurality of independent linear projecting parts are formed in a direction parallel or oblique to the conveyance direction of the image support.
