To provide an image forming method using a heat developable photosensitive material capable of image formation with a more compact space-saving heat developing apparatus.
In the image forming method, the heat developable photosensitive material is imagewise exposed and heated to a heat developing temperature by a heating means to form an image, wherein (1) the heat developable photosensitive material has an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder on at least one surface of a support and has a non-photosensitive outermost layer on the same side of the support as the image forming layer, wherein the heat developable photosensitive material has a non-photosensitive intermediate layer between the image forming layer and the outermost layer and the non-photosensitive intermediate layer contains ≥50 mass% of a polymeric latex as a binder, and (2) the heating means has two heating sections arranged so that one surface of the heat developable photosensitive material is heated along a transport path of the heat developable photosensitive material.
