To provide an image forming system and an information processing apparatus capable of obtaining data after expansion at a prescribed speed and suppressing the power consumption in the case of expanding compressed data.
In the case that an expansion processing section 610 expands compressed image data, a capturing speed control section 660 selects a frequency of a clock signal supplied to an image storage section 605 and an input section 610B in response to a compression rate of the image data by each block calculated by a compression rate calculation unit 550 so that a capturing speed of the image data by the expansion processing section 610 can be varied in units of blocks, and even when one of the image data includes part with a low compression rate, since the expansion processing section 610 can capture the data with the low compression rate at a high speed, the expansion processing section 610 can output data after the expansion at a prescribed speed and it is not required to set a drive speed of the expansion processing section 610 at a high speed, then the power consumption can be suppressed.
