PURPOSE: To obtain a stable recorded image by irradiating a recording layer contg. photosetting microcapsules with light, pressing the recording layer to break the unphotoset capsules corresponding to an image to be recorded and sticking a toner to the broken capsules.

CONSTITUTION: In an exposing stage, a recording layer 2 contg. photosetting microcapsules is irradiated with light 3 corresponding to an image to be recorded and the capsules 4 in the irradiated part are photoset. In a pressing stage, the layer 2 is pressed with pressing rolls 5 to break the unphotoset capsules 6. In a developing stage, a toner 7 is stuck to a liq. component flowing out of the broken capsules 6 in the layer 2 to form a recorded image. In a fixing stage, the toner 7 is fixed by heating or other method. In a cleaning stage, the excess toner on the layer 2 is removed. A high density and high contrast recorded image is obtd.
