Abstract:

To efficiently encode the wavelet coefficient in a high band based on the distribution of wavelet coefficients.

This device is provided with a wavelet decomposition means 1 for performing a wavelet decomposition of an image frame into a low-band coefficient and a high-band coefficient, a scanning pattern generation means 5 for generating the scanning pattern for the high-band coefficient based on the low-band coefficient, a high band coefficient scanning means 6 for ordering the high-band coefficient based on the scanning pattern and a DPCM&VLC encoding means 3 for encoding the run-length VLC 7 applying a run-length VLC to the ordered high-band coefficient and the decomposed low-band coefficient. By this image frame encoding device, the efficiency of the encoding in which the wavelet in an image or a video encoding is made a base.
