To provide an image generating apparatus, image generating method, image generating program and recording medium therefor in which a print image is generated so as to easily discriminate contents of data recorded on the recording medium such as CD-ROM or DVD-R from the print image printed on a label side.
A first print image is selected out of a plurality of images to be printed that become a target of the print image, based on first image data characteristics that image data of the images to be printed have, and a second print image is selected based on second image data characteristics that image data of the images to be printed have. An entire image region for printing all over the label side is segmented from the first print image, a partial image region for printing on a predetermined part of the label side is segmented from the second print image, and the entire image region and the partial image region are composed.
