PURPOSE: To improve the work efficiency for graphing of the numerical value.

CONSTITUTION: An OCR part 104 is provided to recognize the characters included in the images stored in a memory 103 together with a dictionary ROM 106 which stores previously a dictionary pattern for recognition of characters, a nonvolatile memory 107 which stores the data for recognition of characters, a memory 108 which stores the recognizing result of the part 104, and a picture producing part 109 which generates a graph based on the recognizing result stored in the memory 108. Furthermore, a synthesizing part 110 is added to synthesize the graph generated by the part 109 and the recognizing result stored in the memory 108 together with an operating part 114 which corrects the recognizing result stored in the memory 108, an address calculating part 115 which calculates the address of a corrected area in the memory 108, and a dictionary updating part 116 which updates the dictionary in accordance with the recognizing result.
