Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device that detects any electric current between a resistance heating layer and a grounding part and stops power supply to the resistance heating layer.SOLUTION: An image heating device using a film having a resistance heating layer that is heated by electricity supply comprises: an electro-conductive nip pad (113b) in contact with a base layer (101) of the film; a power supply circuit (79) that applies a voltage across paired electrodes (105a and 105b) to supply power to the resistance heating layer (102); an electric leak detecting circuit (140) that electrically connects an installation frame (141) and the nip pad and detects any electric current flowing between the nip pad and the installation frame when electricity is supplied from the power supply circuit to the resistance heating layer; and a control circuit (150) that performs control as to whether or not power supply to the resistance heating layer by the power supply circuit is to be stopped based on a result of detection by the electric leak detecting circuit.
